Monday's Mortgage Morsels, Coffee Tips, Top Gun Fun, and More...
"Congratulations. I knew the record would stand until it was broken." - Yogi Berra
Sorry for the late one… long day. Maybe it’ll help you fall asleep….
“Shocked I tell you!” Kidding obviously, but I find myself saying this every few days nowadays. That said, San Diego never ceases to amaze me. I can’t really blame people though. I have been travelling and working from the road this entire year and I definitely miss San Diego. There's generally a lot do there from amazing breweries to outstanding eateries and if you like the ocean, San Diego is a goldmine. Everything is about fifteen minutes away no matter where you are in the city, the weather is generally always sunny and around 70 if you like that sorta thing, and people are pretty friendly.
I have no doubt stocks will continue to rise but not at the pace we have seen the past year or prior to the shutdown. It is going to be a bumpy ride for a few years with stocks, bonds, and mortgage rates. I would probably convert assets and invest in real estate if I were a betting man. "Buy land. They ain't making any more of the stuff." - Will Rogers
Interest Rates…
Taking its lumps but Interest Rates are still Awesome! “We started off the week in negative territory in stocks and bonds in early trading. Dow down 100, Nasdaq down 100 but bonds are still negative as the 10 year cant seem to break below the 1.66% barrier. Currently the FNMA 2.0% coupon is down 2, 2.5% down 3, 10 year yield at 1.689%… ending at 1.734%
Rates were in our favor most of last week recovering Friday and again today but you don’t need to look very far these days for market uncertainty. Whistler decided to shut down for the rest of the winter due to a new Covid-19 variant. It is also the end of Q1 and we have some economic data coming out on Thursday which I’ll keep you updated on.
We may some relief in a few weeks but that doesn’t help you mid escrow. Lock your purchase loans with an eye toward refinancing down the line once you own the home. Don’t get caught up in an 1/8 better or worse; if the payment works be happy you got the home in this market and rates are near all time lows. ;)
FIGHT ON!
For the first time I can remember, my Trojans are in the Elite 8. Congratulations on the journey so far gentlemen! Gonzaga is next tomorrow at 4:15PM PDT!
Go Trojans!
Coffee Tips…
I wasn’t aware of this one…
Let your coffee degas!
If you buy yourself a nice bag of specialty coffee, it’ll have a roast date displayed on the pack. During the first five to seven days or so, the coffee is releasing a whole lot of CO2, which is known as degassing.
During this time, the coffee is still developing, so it’s very difficult to make consistently good cups of coffee as you’ll need to keep making grinding adjustments.
Check the roast date on your pack and don’t open until at least five days after roasting. Your coffee will be more consistent and tastier if you can resist opening the bag straight away.
Just for Fun…
